Tis the Season!

The Christmas season is always hectic and sneaks up on me every year (no matter how much I try to prepare for it), but I love it.  Might I clarify the Christmas season for me begins immediately following Thanksgiving day but not before.  Bob and I have a tradition of putting up the tree and decor while watching a marathon of our favorite Christmas movies.  Our top favorites include Christmas Vacation, The Family Stone, Four Christmases,  Elf, Home Alone and The Santa Claus.

While I don't love the bitter cold temperatures of winter or waiting for my car to heat up, I do enjoy sitting in my living room with a lit Christmas tree and festive  decor, a fire, good smelling Christmas candles and a cup of hot tea or glass of wine.   My husband and I started dating around this time of year (right before Thanksgiving to be exact) so it brings back fond memories of fun dates, talking on the phone for hours, surprise visits and walking around in the cold looking at Christmas lights.  The season also reminds me of how thankful and blessed I am for the life I have.  I'm grateful for all my wonderful friends and family and the joy they bring to my life.  I can only hope I am enriching and impacting others' lives as they have enriched and impacted mine.

May you take time this season to count your blessings!  God Bless!

Emma's Portrait Session....Merry Christmas!

Just have to share some photos of Emma, Bill and Biscuit the dog.  Biscuit is one of four dogs in the Cherry household.  Can you believe it?!  I thought my three were a handfull.  So before the weather turned too cold we shot some Christmas card worthy images.  Besides the occassional water break for both Emma and Biscuit, they did great.  I teased Emma when she was slightly uncomfortable in a particular position that being a model is hard work.  Sometimes to get that one shot you have to turn you leg one way, tilt your head another, and cross your arms a certain way; it can get uncomfortable.  And sometimes to get that candid shot or that genuine laugh or smile, you just have to let them take a break or tell a joke and you can capture some amazing shots.  I have a few of both types that I really like of Miss Emma.  Here they are!

Jump, Jump, Jump!

And for that genuine laugh and smile photo!  My fave!

Sean and Kendra.....Engagement

Meet Sean and Kendra, an adorable couple!   I shot their engagement photos last Sunday, a very bitter and windy afternoon in OKC.  The temperature remained at a bitter 45 degrees all afternoon (pretty sure we were all numb by the end of the session) but at least the wind died down enough for us to capture some great images!  High fives to you two!

I'd like to share Sean and Kendra's proposal story in Kendra's words because it is just too cute.  1.  I love when the proposal location has special meaning to the couple and where they can go back and visit years later.  2.  I love that family (Sean's sister and brother-in-law) were involved in the scheming!  That makes their proposal story all the more meaningful!  So here is their story in the words of the soon-to-be Bride!

Our Proposal:
We had planned a weekend getaway down to OKC on a weekend we both had off. We had tickets to the OU game that Saturday and met up with Tami and Shannon before we headed to the game. Since the game wasn't until evening and we were already in Norman, we decided to stroll around campus a bit. Sean said that he wanted to show me around, since I had never really seen it all. I agreed and the four of us just walked around until we reached the Spoon Holder. Evidently this is a fairly well-known site at OU but since I didn't go to undergrad there, I had no clue. Anyway, Tami explained the little story behind it, how if you kiss in the Spoon Holder, you're destined to get married. I thought, "aww that's cute", and was ready to keep moving. Then she suggested that we take a picture at it, so we did and as I turned around to grab my purse, Sean was getting down on one knee with a ring in his hand!! It was so cute and one of my favorite memories so far! That was Sept. 24, and now we are in the thick of wedding planning! So excited for June 8 to get here!

Wedding date set for June 8th, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   Congratulations you two!
Hope you enjoy some of my favorites!

Ahoy It's A Boy - Kerrie and Todd

My best friend, Kerrie and her husband, Todd are expecting their first child in January.  I am SO EXCITED to meet this precious baby boy.   Davis will be here in less than 2 months and I can't wait for all the fun we're going to have!  He is going to be surrounded in love.

In honor of Kerrie and this exciting chapter of she and Todd's life, six friends and I threw her a baby shower so she could be gifted with all the essentials before Davis' arrival.  Davis' nursery is pirate themed so we went with that theme for the baby shower!  From the adorable invitations (by The Modern Moose) to the message in a bottle to the "talk like a pirate" inspired snack choices and punch consumed in a baby bottle, this baby shower was super cute and lots of fun.  And I'm not biased at all.  ; )  Before Kerrie opened gifts each guest wrote words of encouragement and love to baby Davis and each message got dropped into a bottle.  These messages in a bottle will sit in his nursery so that when mommy, daddy or Davis enter his room, they are filled with these loving words from friends and family praying over his life.  Each guest also left with a yummy bag of loot filled with hershey's chocolate nuggets.  Who can resist chocolate?!

Enjoy some photos from the shower!

Eli Marshal....4 days

Precious Eli Marshal at 4 days old!   Proud parents Courtney and Ryan were super excited to welcome this little guy into the world on Friday, August 5th at 8:21am.   I was able to visit the precious family at the hospital and just had to get newborn photographs of this cutie.  Eli took several snack breaks during our session and needed a little soothing here and there but overall rocked it out.  Can't wait to watch you grow little man!  You are so cute!
ENJOY!

And lastly, gotta get our OSU Cowboys in there!  Go Pokes!

Cupcakes.....mmmm mmmm good!

I've been craving gourmet cupcakes lately.  I couldn't help it, I finally broke down and bought some after work yesterday evening.  I wanted to first use them for product photography samples and utilize my mad skills in photoshop for a marketing piece sample.  I might have enjoyed one cupcake.... or two after the session.  Mmmm mmmm good!

(I can't remember what kind this cupcake is since I haven't tasted it, so I made up a name and description.)

There are lots of YUMMY cupcake stores around the Edmond and OKC area!  I want to give cupcake credit for this mini session to Cupcakes To Go Go.  I didn't inform them I'd be using my cupcake purchase for a personal mini photo session but definitely want to give credit.  Check out their website for a complete menu of all the cupcakes they offer.  Located conveniently near my house in Edmond, OK!  Cupcakes2gogo.com.  I've possibly stopped by more than once for a birthday party order or personal cravings!  They are just soooo tasty!

Kailey and Aaron's little Tele Girl

I had the great honor to keep my sister and brother-in-law's dog Tele while they were away on their honeymoon for a week in June.  She and my dog Zoe are besties and had the best time together!  A couple months back I took photos of Zoe on this chair and Kailey made a comment of how she wanted photos of Tele in the same chair.  Well this was the perfect time for that photo session so I surprised them with a disc  of images.  She and Aaron can't wait to have some printed and hung in their house.  Tele is their baby!  She is one incredibly smart baby too.  They have worked hours upon hours with her teaching her tricks.   She can do the basics....sit, laydown, rollover, play dead.  But she also can walk on two legs, jump really high, raise her hand for a question, bow her head and pray with her arms propped up on the couch (You know like a child praying at their bed), "freeze" on her back two legs, she rubs her nose with her paw like it's a Shame, Shame.  I know I'm leaving some out but you get the point, she is talented!  And oh so precious!
Here are a few of my favorites of Miss Tele!

love you Tele,

Courtney's Baby Shower

This soon to be mommy, as in Less Than A Week, is one of my college roommates and a sorority sister!  Hot momma Courtney is going to make an amazing mother!  I was one of several hostesses for a baby shower honoring Courtney and Baby Eli.  Nicole, Kerrie, Sarah and myself, all sorority sisters, hosted an intimate baby shower for our dear friend.  It was so fun planning, decorating, baking, and setting up for this fun day, especially in the company of friends!  It would not have been the same without you friends!  Kerrie and I are pros at making cake balls and we're available for hire for your next shower!  As for the diaper cake, this was my first diaper cake to be a part of and I must say it turned out so darn cute!  Kerrie purchased the perfect diapers to coordinate with our shower colors.  If you're in need of instructions for making a diaper cake, there are tutorials available on You Tube.  I do suggest watching before purchasing your supplies.  There are also tutorials on how to make tissue balls for your next party.  I passed on my knowledge to the hostesses before the shower and we made several.  Great job ladies!  Now enjoy photos from Courtney's baby shower.

We can't wait to meet you Baby Eli!

Laura's Senior Session!

This beautiful and chic chick is Laura and I've known her since she was born.  Ok that's because she is my cousin!  We just finished up our annual family reunion at Grand Lake and boy was it hot!  Here in Oklahoma we've been hitting over 100 degrees for the past 30+ days so we opted for an early morning session.  Fortunately Laura is an early morning riser so she was perfectly fine kicking off the day with her senior session.  We also got lucky with rain the night before so the heat stayed away for a little longer allowing us more time for shooting!  For this session I had the assistance of my sister Kailey who helped with makeup and the reflector and cousin Sarah who helped with props.  This session would not have been possible without you two, so thank you!  This session would also not have been possible without our beautiful model Laura!  I just love her curly hair and stunning blue eyes.  Loved that the four of us could hang out for several hours all being a part of this session.
Enjoy!
