Tis the Season!

The Christmas season is always hectic and sneaks up on me every year (no matter how much I try to prepare for it), but I love it.  Might I clarify the Christmas season for me begins immediately following Thanksgiving day but not before.  Bob and I have a tradition of putting up the tree and decor while watching a marathon of our favorite Christmas movies.  Our top favorites include Christmas Vacation, The Family Stone, Four Christmases,  Elf, Home Alone and The Santa Claus.

While I don't love the bitter cold temperatures of winter or waiting for my car to heat up, I do enjoy sitting in my living room with a lit Christmas tree and festive  decor, a fire, good smelling Christmas candles and a cup of hot tea or glass of wine.   My husband and I started dating around this time of year (right before Thanksgiving to be exact) so it brings back fond memories of fun dates, talking on the phone for hours, surprise visits and walking around in the cold looking at Christmas lights.  The season also reminds me of how thankful and blessed I am for the life I have.  I'm grateful for all my wonderful friends and family and the joy they bring to my life.  I can only hope I am enriching and impacting others' lives as they have enriched and impacted mine.

May you take time this season to count your blessings!  God Bless!

Emma's Portrait Session....Merry Christmas!

Just have to share some photos of Emma, Bill and Biscuit the dog.  Biscuit is one of four dogs in the Cherry household.  Can you believe it?!  I thought my three were a handfull.  So before the weather turned too cold we shot some Christmas card worthy images.  Besides the occassional water break for both Emma and Biscuit, they did great.  I teased Emma when she was slightly uncomfortable in a particular position that being a model is hard work.  Sometimes to get that one shot you have to turn you leg one way, tilt your head another, and cross your arms a certain way; it can get uncomfortable.  And sometimes to get that candid shot or that genuine laugh or smile, you just have to let them take a break or tell a joke and you can capture some amazing shots.  I have a few of both types that I really like of Miss Emma.  Here they are!

Jump, Jump, Jump!

And for that genuine laugh and smile photo!  My fave!

Sean and Kendra.....Engagement

Meet Sean and Kendra, an adorable couple!   I shot their engagement photos last Sunday, a very bitter and windy afternoon in OKC.  The temperature remained at a bitter 45 degrees all afternoon (pretty sure we were all numb by the end of the session) but at least the wind died down enough for us to capture some great images!  High fives to you two!

I'd like to share Sean and Kendra's proposal story in Kendra's words because it is just too cute.  1.  I love when the proposal location has special meaning to the couple and where they can go back and visit years later.  2.  I love that family (Sean's sister and brother-in-law) were involved in the scheming!  That makes their proposal story all the more meaningful!  So here is their story in the words of the soon-to-be Bride!

Our Proposal:
We had planned a weekend getaway down to OKC on a weekend we both had off. We had tickets to the OU game that Saturday and met up with Tami and Shannon before we headed to the game. Since the game wasn't until evening and we were already in Norman, we decided to stroll around campus a bit. Sean said that he wanted to show me around, since I had never really seen it all. I agreed and the four of us just walked around until we reached the Spoon Holder. Evidently this is a fairly well-known site at OU but since I didn't go to undergrad there, I had no clue. Anyway, Tami explained the little story behind it, how if you kiss in the Spoon Holder, you're destined to get married. I thought, "aww that's cute", and was ready to keep moving. Then she suggested that we take a picture at it, so we did and as I turned around to grab my purse, Sean was getting down on one knee with a ring in his hand!! It was so cute and one of my favorite memories so far! That was Sept. 24, and now we are in the thick of wedding planning! So excited for June 8 to get here!

Wedding date set for June 8th, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   Congratulations you two!
Hope you enjoy some of my favorites!
