Baby Ault Nursery

I use my blog mostly to share my photography of clients but here's a personal post.  My husband and I are expecting our first child in less than 2 weeks.  We are having a baby boy and his name is Everett Rogers Ault.  I've had requests to share photos of his nursery so here you go!  We've had a blast bringing it all together and can't wait to bring our baby boy home to his room!

A few neat facts!

The rocking chair has been repainted for Everett's nursery but it was the chair my
sister and I were rocked in as babies by my sweet parents.  It will be very neat to
rock my baby boy in it too!  We also got a really comfortable glider but decided
to put it in the living room due to space constraints in the nursery.
The brown box that the changing pad is sitting in was custom built by my dad
before I was born and used for me and my sister.  We decided to leave the original
stain on it and use as is.
The daybed is a loaner from my parents and was my sister's bed for the longest
time growing up.  Thank you mom, dad, and KK!  Since this room used to be our
guest room, we wanted to be able to still accommodate an overnight stay from
a grandparent!
The dresser is from an antique store in Tulsa.  We decided to leave the original
stain on it and just add new knobs.  It has really deep drawers (24") which allows
plenty of space to fill it up with clothes and supplies.
The bookshelves came from the same antique store as the dresser and I paid
$20 for them.  I did repaint them the blue gray color.  And while they aren't anything
special, they fit perfectly with our space restrictions and provide shelving for
Everett's books.
The crib we bought new.  If we get to have it our way, there will be a few more
babies to use this bed.

Changing Pad cover - custom made by my mom
Fabric embellishments on gray pillows - custom made by my mom
Crib bedskirt - custom made by me and my mom (mostly my mom)
Rocker cushions - custom made by me
Duvet Cover for Daybed (not pictured) is still in the works and will be neutral like comforter shown.

The rest of the nursery goodies are from all over.  (Target, Pottery Barn, Pier 1 Imports, TJ Maxx, and various local boutiques.  I spent a good portion of my second trimester running around town purchasing items, returning items, and purchasing other items so the nursery vision would come to fruition.  I'm so pleased with the outcome and so is my hubs.  Now we just need Everett to make his appearance!

Thank You

Thank you to my loving husband who has been very patient in the decorating process.  Thank you for being my handyman; assembling the crib, moving in the furniture, hanging wall decor.  Thank you for your opinions and feedback on the many items I brought home to consider in the nursery.  You are a wonderfully patient and kind husband to tolerate my nesting process which I realize was extreme and much longer than what the books prepared you for.  I love you so much and can't wait for us to start making memories with our son.

Thank you to my mom (aka Gigi) who has made several trips to Edmond to help with nursery projects and also give design opinions and feedback.  We've been to several stores together to match up the right shade of yellow gold and pick out fabrics for the crib bedskirt, duvet cover, pillows, and changing pad.  The gray pillows and changing pad wouldn't be nearly as cute without your ideas to embellish them.  We've also spent a good portion of your visits to Edmond not making nearly the progress we intended or hoped for.  Sometimes that was due to a fabric store not having the fabric we needed in stock (often there were a few tears followed by me) and sometimes we just slow poked around with other fun errands (enjoyed by both myself and mom).  I do admit that my extreme nesting mood and plan for nursery completion (by August, beginning of my third trimester) got me worked up often when we weren't as successful as planned, but now that I look back at it...the projects got done and Everett's nursery is cuter than planned.  Thank you Gigi for your time and contributions to Everett's nursery.  Thank you for your moral support through the pregnancy process.  I love you!

And.....
Stay tuned for newborn photos of our son once he's born!
